Associate Teacher

The Associate Teacher is a dance professional who is actively entering students for examination with the Society. Teachers who wish retain their professional association with the Society of Classical Ballet (Vaganova Method), but do not submit students for examinations, may become non-active members. Active Associate members will automatically be deemed non-active members if they do not enter students for examinations for a period of two years.

 

Associate Teacher Examination Requirements:

  • 18+ years old
  • Applicants must have passed the Society of Classical Ballet (Vaganova Method) Elementary exam or higher (see Special Provisions For Dancers below) or be an Affiliate Member
  • Applicants must submit the Teacher’s Examination Request Form with two copies of their resumé. (This document is contained in the Membership & Examination Forms booklet.)
  • Examination fee payable six weeks prior to exam date

 

Associate Teacher Examination Requirements
Special Provisions For Dancers:

  • 18+ years old
  • Applicants must have passed the Society of Classical Ballet Elementary exam or higher
  • Applicants must submit the Teacher’s Examination Request Form with two copies of their resumé.  The exam fee is not required at that time. (This document is contained in the Membership & Examination Forms booklet.)
  • Their study process is under the mentorship of an active Associate (or higher level) member
  • They are required to purchase the Affiliate Guide
  • Their exam may be taken at any time and there is no limited time frame once study has started
  • Examination fee payable six weeks prior to their set exam date
  • They are not considered a member of the Society until they have been awarded their Associate exam

 

Associate Examination Procedure:

  • One examiner required
  • Teach a one-hour class for a minimum of four students up to and including Elementary, which must include the presentation of a small enchaînement. (Maximum length of enchaînement is 60 seconds.)
  • A 30-minute oral examination, which will include questions regarding pointe and work for males
  • A one-hour written examination

 

Associate Teacher Rights, Privileges & Requirements:

  • Once Associate membership is granted the teacher may present students for examination up to and including Intermediate
  • Associate Teachers may use the SCBVM Assoc. accreditation after their names and the Society’s logo in documents and advertising materials
  • Active Associate members will automatically be deemed non-active members if they do not enter students for examination for a period of two years. Active status may be regained by submitting students for examinations
  • Associate Teachers who wish to retain their profession association with the Society of Classical Ballet, but do not submit students for examinations, may become non-active members
  • All rights and privileges with the Society will be revoked when a member fails to remit their annual membership fees
